Mrs. Justus Hewitt from Cleveland OH is requesting classroom basics through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students individualized activity binders to use at their own pace. These binders will be full of dry erase activities to build their literacy and math skills tailored to their specific academic needs.

My students come from a neighborhood of severe poverty and hardship. They come to school with a smile every day in spite of some of the hardships they are facing at home. They are ready to learn and engage in activities.
We have some very special and fragile children at our school.
While we deal with some intense emotional and behavioral issues, we have so many moments of happiness and laughter with these students that I hope we are making a difference in their lives. Our staff is one of a kind. Our teachers work so hard to get through to these kids and do whatever it takes to help them come closer to success.
I want my students to have the same opportunities as all children, and while a lot of my kids have not been read to much in their first years, this listening center can provide them with read aloud while I work intensely with small groups of students on developing fundamental literacy skills.
These binders will be used to provide each student with a set of specific activities targeted to their individual academic needs. The binders will consist of differentiated literacy and math activities aimed at building skills and once skills are mastered activities in the binder will be changed to move toward higher level goals. The students will be able to keep these binders in their personal cubbies and pull them out during centers, free time, or anytime they have finished their work. The ink will be for our printer so that I will be able to print colorful pages to fill their binders, we all know kids love bright and vivid colors!
