Most of my students come from low economic households in a small, rural town in Florida. I have 20 sweet kindergarteners who are constantly moving around and always curious about new things. They love to be outside and are all very social.
We love to learn, and love to read in our class.
The students in our small town come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. Our school is a Title 1 school, where 20% of the population is stricken by poverty.
My Project
It is imperative to create the correct learning environment in Kindergarten. Some students learn best seeing, others learn by hearing, and a few learn best by moving around. While children learn in multiple ways, when learning to read it is important to have access to both audio and visual literature.
Students need access to more than one type of literature in order to establish the needed basis for reading.
It is my goal to give my students access to all types of literature, but building an audio library can be a lot. With this project, I can provide the needed CD's and books for my students to follow along in a listening center.
