Help me give my students flexible seating, mini black lights and highlighters for neon read-on, chair pockets, and color toner to print our wonderful masterpieces.
I am a teacher of the most amazing grade in the world, third grade! They are always striving to be the best kids they can be. They are leaders who plan on leading the world in a great direction someday! Children at this age are eager to learn.
I have 25 hard-working and enthusiastic learners in my class.
They put so much energy into everything they do. It brings a smile to my face to see them engaged and wanting to learn. We have some special need students who require a lot of peer support. It warms my heart daily to see how supportive they are to each other.
My Project
I have introduced flexible seating in my classroom and students love it. I would use the portable lap desks to add to that. These chairs give students an alternative place to sit in the room, which has shown to help them stay focused and engaged. This is important for students who have trouble staying on task or just need a break. The chairs are high quality and would last for years to come.
The flashlights and highlighters will help students to get their Neon READ-ON!
These two items are the last of the supplies I need to complete my Neon Read-On kits. Each child is given a kit to use during shared reading. As we read a passage, students use the highlighter to color main idea, story structure clues, details, and many different other aspects. Students then get to go to a dark corner and use the black lights to see the neon show up. They absolutely love this part! When they see all the different colors show up under the light, they gasp. They then tell their reading partner why they highlighted sentences the way they did.
The book covers would be used as chair pockets! Students can store head phones and their independent reading book in there. This will help during our Literacy Block to keep students on task more instead of digging through their desk to look for materials.
We have 1:1 Chromebooks. Students write stories and create projects. The color toner would make it possible for us to print out their final drafts and display them throughout the room. This would help boost their self-esteem as they see their hard work on the wall. The labels are for RTI and the books would be used during our literacy block as well.
