Literacy Tools for ELL Students In 1st Grade!

My Students

I am working with 1st grade English language learners (ELLs) to improve their language abilities in and out the classroom.

I work with students in the classroom and I pull out a group of students to work on reading, vocabulary, and fluency skills in the English language.

A lot of these students are able to learn quickly through associating pictures and colors to English words. having enough materials for this is important for them to grow their language abilities overall.

I love that my students work so hard in learning a new language. They are special because they will grow up bilingual, like myself, which opens up their world.

My Project

As we have transitioned back to in-person learning, we as teachers have seen the value of technology in the classroom. Tools like Lexia and Imagine Learning were so helpful for my ELL students while we were online. Why not apply these technologies in the classroom as supplemental support?

We are living in an ever-changing 21st-century world.

Students and teachers will have to adapt to this, and we need the tools in order to do so. Allowing these students to have tablets, headphones, and books in the classroom will continue to make learning fun and engaging as the world changes around us. Please help out my students with growing their brains in more ways than was possible before!
