My students need an iPad to meet the new rigorous standards of the Common Core curriculum. Scholastic News would enable the kids to read nonfiction current events.
Today's students are empowered through education and technology! This grant incorporates both of these qualities and opens the doors to the future for my amazing students!
My students are 4th graders in a suburban Louisiana public school.
They are bright, eager, and are in training to be our future leaders. My students are passionate about learning and are motivated by technology-rich projects. They will be competing for their future jobs in a highly-advanced, technological, global market.
My Project
My students will use the iPad to incorporate research, investigation, communication, writing, and many more essential skills. This technology will encourage collaboration in my classroom and global correspondence.
The Scholastic News subscription will allow my students to meet the rigorous demands of the new Common Core curriculum by reading 80% nonfiction. This magazine exposes my kids to grade-appropriate current events and allows them to learn the functions and purposes of text features through continuos interaction. Interactive Promethean Board software is included in the cost of the subscription. Thus, technology interaction is woven into this literacy component as well.
This project is important because it exposes young children to technology, collaboration, and literacy skills.
These are all essential skills for successful, future leaders. The impact of this project will reach far beyond 4th grade.
