My students were part of the last group who had to make their start in school in modular classrooms after we lost our school. The students hail from rural, low income areas and often don't have the help at home to provide optimal learning experiences.
The students are young, impressionable and eager to learn.
While many may get to experience higher learning skills at home, most receive a majority of their skills at school and it is up to me to provide them with the best possible experience. By offering the students the opportunity to interact with their peers independently, I feel the students learn to take a little responsibility for their own learning.
My Project
I have requested a Wireless Listening Center. Earlier in my career as a teacher I wouldn't have been as easily impressed by such technology. However, as other teachers in my school have received the wireless systems, I have come to realize what a valuable commodity the listening centers are in so many ways. The students have so many opportunities during the year to experiment and find their own learning styles and this listening center will definitely help them find their strengths.
I would like to have the Wireless Listening Center for my students.
I always feel a bit guilty when I have to leave students to work in small groups without me and fear that separating them based on levels is tough on their ego. The wireless listening center will allow me to combine groups of various learning levels and styles to work independently while I spend time with other individuals who need extra attention.
