Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach third grade at P.S. 106 in Brooklyn. My school is in a poor neighborhood, and we have few resources. I am requesting library and writing materials, as well as a few classroom necessities.
My classroom is small, so we need to use our space effectively. We don't have very good storage space, so our classroom library isn't being used as effectively as it could be. Our classroom would greatly benefit from the Classroom Library Management Kit. The children have little room at their seats, so the book packs for the backs of their chairs that come with this kit would be perfect. Our library could also be better organized with the color-coded dots and baskets to help differentiate reading levels. This library management kit would enable my class to effectively access books. It would also give us more constructive use of our space.
I am also hoping to get a few materials to use for my class in their writing. I want the students to make their own books, and the blank books would allow them to be really creative. Also, tagboard would be very useful for our shared writing. The flip and write books would help my class build their vocabulary, as they match root words with a prefix or suffix. Lastly, we are requesting a few necessities that would help our classroom run more efficiently, such as a pencil sharpener and a timer.
Please help my class appreciate and utilize our classroom library and become authors as we write our own stories.
