Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My first-grade students love to hear stories read and are learning to read which can be hard at this age. They are at an age where they enjoying sitting together to learn from each other. My goal as a teacher is for them to know reading can take them anywhere they would like to go. Having different types of engaging activities will help me reach all the different types and levels of learning for my students. My students are struggling with confidence in reading and the only way to help with that is to give them the opportunities to read not only in books but in stations as well.
My Project
My students will enjoy using these literacy games during stations. It will help keep them engaged while I do guided reading which helps them become better readers. I will be able to change up the stations weekly which helps keep them engaged and learning. I will be able to have more stations and be able to have them in smaller groups using their academic levels. They will realize that learning can be fun and engaging. These activities will help them with a strong foundation in literacy that they will take with them to the next grade level. My students will be very excited.
