Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is a middle school ranging from grades 6-8 located in West Harlem, with many of our students receiving free/reduced-price lunch. The students come from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and many of the students are English Language Learners.
My students are intelligent, hard working, and compassionate.
They enjoy hands-on learning experiences, opportunities to be creative, and taking on academic challenges. As their teacher, I want to be able to provide them with everything they need in order to be successful learners.
My Project
When working with a group of students, I often print articles from various educational websites to work with. These websites have many benefits, including online quizzes and writing opportunities, however, I do not have enough computers for each student to be able to read and complete these online activities. With access to three Amazon Fire Tablets, students will be able to work on their literacy skills online and be able to use web based activities! Additionally, having access to keyboards with built in cases will help students build and strengthen their typing skills. This is crucial in order to be successful in high school and beyond!
