Help me give my students opportunities to boost their literacy skills in a fun and engaging way! Vocabulary, sight words, phonics, phonemic awareness, and rhyming are all essential skills needed to become a successful reader!
I teach Kindergarten through 3rd grade struggling readers at a Title I school. I see students for about 30 minutes daily to get caught up in reading. I also work with two para-educators that see K-3rd grade at-risk students also. Together we meet with almost 80 students daily! All of our students are struggling readers that do not get much support from home. Many of our students do not read at home or have access to books at home. The reading that they do at school is what helps them progress as learners. I would like my students to be able to use the skills that they have learned in reading lessons to play literacy games. We need more fun and engaging ways to practice the essential literacy skills that they have learned.
My Project
My goal for this project is to make learning fun! Many of our entering Kindergarteners come to school not knowing any letters or letter sounds. Students need lots of opportunities to practice what they have learned. Using Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Word Recognition, and Vocabulary games will help them stay on track to be successful readers. Learning needs to be fun and engaging to get their attention. These literacy skill games will help my students practice what they have learned during reading group in a fun and meaningful way! My students will daily be able to learn and have fun at the same time. Students that have a great attitude about learning will learn more.
By donating to this project, you will allow students to play these learning games to gain confidence and practice showing what they know!
We need more resources to make learning fun! Our goal is to get students excited about reading and about learning in order to become better readers.
