My Students

The students in our school are in grades Pre-K through Second Grade (670 students). While I teach students with autism and emotional support needs, I also focus on all students.

When working with my students and other classrooms, it is exhilarating to watch them all learn about each other.

Students learn that each person can learn, but it may look different for each student. Projects focus on creating teachers being the facilitators and students leading their learning while synergizing with peers.

My Project

Students will design pillowcases based off of books they have read. They will draw with fabric markers a key detail that will remind them of their loved books.

The teacher will have a selection of books the students can take home to read with their literacy books and illustrate the main idea on their pillowcases the next day in their literacy block.

Students will present their pillowcases to the student body in a play format to gain attention. They will dress in their pajamas with scenery depicting a bed as they discuss the books they read. The audience will receive a "bedtime" snack of milk and cookie.
