Do you remember when you first began to read by yourself? Or maybe you remember the look on your children's faces when they finally accomplished reading. It is such a wonderful feeling. Those ah ha moments are why I teach.
I teach Kindergarten in a rural school where a majority of the students would qualify for free breakfast and lunch were it not for a grant that we've had for the past few years that allows all of our student body to get free breakfast and lunch.
I have 19 kids in my class this year. Most of my students begin Kindergarten with little to no preschool experience. They are excited to be in school. And they are excited to be learning.
My Project
My students need games and activities that focus on the alphabet, letter recognition, and writing to explore during center time. My students will use these materials to explore their ability through building, drawing, making letters and sounds, and then words! These activities will be used during center time throughout the day. They will be able to use these manipulatives during our whole group and small group time, learning letters and sounds as they make words and sentences.
Your generous donation to our project will improve our classroom by building a stronger reader and writer. This will change my students' lives for the better because they will love school and have fun while learning!
