This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My class is 3-4 mixed age preschool/prekindergarten inclusion with full of inquisitive scholars! They are purely and naturally curious, passionate, and ready to learn.
My elementary school is Title I school in Washington, DC with more than 70% students eligible for Free And Reduced Meals (FARM).
Many of our students have limited access to learning environments. Due to a full range of exposure to learning and students' unique learning styles, differentiated teaching is extensively used in our classrooms. Our students are a group of fun and amazing scholars ready for challenges!
My Project
My classroom is made up of a variety of learners. Two thing always manages to bring us all together and that is art and play!! My students love to create something and learn via play. We need different tools and materials to enable our little learners to create and play.
With these materials, my students will have the chance to create and play.
Space-Saver Mobile Art Center will allow us to store arts & craft resources and have students create their own artwork independently. I also included variety of arts and craft resources including wiggly eyes, sensory dough and paint. It has always been a challenge for me to stack up arts & craft shelf in our art area with variety of materials due to financial reason. Having variety of materials will allow students to use their imagination to create something different.
Other items such as circle time teaching easel, Magnetic Alphabet Fishing Set - Lowercase, and Sight-word sentence center are activity sets that I am planning to incorporate in the art center to support literacy skills. I find students create art using their literacy skills. For example, one student was drawing and writing on the easel for the whole play time sounding out words he wishes to write. Having different activity sets that are not only art-related but also literacy-based will allow students to naturally exposed to literacy.
