Literacy & Math Materials for a New School!
My students need literacy and math materials, as well as journals and paper to start the new year in a new school.
At our school, we are driven by the mission to develop students minds, bodies, and characters so they may lead healthy and fulfilling lives in school, college, and beyond."
We have big goals for our students!
We are a health and wellness based school in a community that could be considered a food desert.
We are going to not just get our students on grade level, but set them up for success for the rest of their lives. We want to help create students that don't just become successful and leave the community, but stay and build it up. We are a brand new, expeditionary learning based charter school that let's kids really dig in and explore topics, so they don't just learn about something, they experience it.
I have a wide range of cultures and abilities in my class, including English Language Learners, "at-risk" students, and students with special needs, but they all have one thing in common - the ability to achieve their highest potential. I believe in them, and a donation to my project would show them that you do, too!
With pattern blocks, Simple Addition Instant Learning Center and Language Skills teaching center, I can create centers and small group activities to reinforce what we are learning as a group. Small group reinforcement is essential for ensuring that all students are grasping the concepts. The hands on activities will be great for all students, but specifically English Language Learners or students who might be struggling.
The paper and journals will be used for writing and for our expeditions, so that the students can document their findings as scientists or explorers and write out their thoughts as authors. The paper organizers are so the students have a way to keep their work organized.
As a new charter school, our budget is limited, so a donation to this project would allow me to do more reinforcing activities and give my students the chance to really dig into what it means to be an author and a scientist with their own personal materials.
Many of my students are starting out a little bit behind, so the requested materials would definitely help them catch up more quickly!
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
