Help me give my students have the materials they need to learn! My classroom needs white boards for instruction and appropriate learning materials for small groups and hands on learning.
Reading doesn't just take people away from their everyday lives, it helps them to find their places in the world and to see what is possible.
"To learn to read is to light a fire; every syllable that is spelled out is a spark." -Victor Hugo
The students at our urban elementary school come from a variety of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Our school consists of 94% Students of Color and 57% English Learners. As a Language Academy school, SPMA enrolls many students who are new to the country and began their childhood in refugee camps. Being a school with 92% of students qualified for free/reduced lunch means many of our students have little opportunity for enrichment activities outside of school. 100% of the students I work with have disabilities and need to the best resources to to learn to read. Sadly, my classroom is a small office space and needs adequate equipment to teach reading.
We envision our room with a large white board to enhance our reading lessons and a full library of decodable readers to build their enthusiasm for books.
My Project
I teach in a classroom, that isn't really a classroom. It is an office space lacking a white board storage options I need to provide the best instruction for my special education students. These lessons will assist in lesson making them better and increase learning.
Alphabet Learning Locks will help my students learn their letters while engaging their fine motor skills development.
The Indoor/Outdoor Magnetic Activity Center will help us provide small group instruction anywhere in the school.
The large Mobile Dry Erase Board will help us provide strong reading and writing instruction by having a place to model and provide examples that the whole class can see at the same time.
