My students need bits and pieces to help make our classroom reading area more inviting, including growth mindset books and a picture printer to allow me to "catch" students in the act of being good readers.
Before teaching, I never knew that five and six-year-olds could be such amazing little bundles of love and potential. Learning this has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
We are an amazing neighborhood school in downtown Seattle, and we support kids from all types of backgrounds, including English language learners, refugees, and a significant homeless population.
My kids are curious, loving, capable and full of unlimited potential. They deserve the very best. They are incredibly hard working, and they thrive when learning is fun.
My Project
My students will be thrilled to have their own set of Piggy and Gerald books to practice their emergent reading skills. Growth mindset books will also allow me to guide their thinking so that they believe they can accomplish anything if they try. Our classroom motto is "I can't do that......yet".
I believe that creating a fun, inviting classroom library is the first step in growing successful readers.
I have secure a fun library carpet, but printing photos of my students "caught" in the act of reading, will help me to inspire more students to engage in their work. and develop a love of reading.
