Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you know that feeling of a new magazine coming in the mail? Children love to hold their own magazine with articles about life experiences to which they can relate. Through these magazines, children can learn sight words and learn firsthand the value of learning to read.
My students attend a small public school.
They have many skills and many challenges academic as well as economic. Some have been identified as special needs but have awesome potential. Our program is a language based program that works on developing the whole child and prepare them for Kindergarten. They are eager to learn and to be challenged.
My Project
By having the Clifford magazines for Pre-K, the children will have the opportunity of holding their own magazine and learning to identify new words. My hope is that the magazines will go home and be read with their family as a time to share and to show an understanding of literacy. Children and parents appreciate the home school connection and it will be interactive in a fun way without the pressure of homework. I really hope that the children can have a love for reading from the beginning of their academic career.
This project will enhance the children's learning.
It is so important to get them involved in their own learning and value their ability to read. The school to home connection is valuable to establish in the younger grades to begin good study skills with their parents.
