Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This is a special group of individuals! I say individuals because they are so different from one another so it makes my classroom dynamics so fun.
However, one thing that they have in common is their hunger for learning.
When new concepts are being introduced they are all for it, ready to tackle the task at hand. When practicing a skill that they have learned, they delight themselves in showing one another what they have learned.
These students make my job an everyday adventure that I am more than motivated to take with them.
My Project
With the use of leveled readers, students are able to read the text and also be challenged. We would use these in a small group setting where I can listen in and have a conversation with them about what they are reading.
It is very important for students to read books in a language that they understand.
For that reason I have included Spanish books that they would read for pleasure. I have some in English, and the kids LOVE them. My Spanish selection is limited and would love to expand it.
The Time magazines would be used to read on relevant events that they would be interest in.
