Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Teaching students how to communicate in two languages in a fun and engaging manner is what I love to do. This year, I am teaching 30 rambunctious first and second graders English and Spanish. They are kiddos with big hearts and a desire to learn. For some, this will be their first time in school. For others, this will be the first time they are taught in English. I want to be able to provide the resources they need to support their learning.

Although many of my students are either homeless or come from low-income families, they are always happy and eager to learn.

They love singing songs, playing games, learning vocabulary, and reading and writing in both languages. Their parents are actively involved and some are becoming bilingual as well.

More than ever, my students need all the help and support that they can get to make learning as fun, motivating, and engaging as possible.

My Project

Many of my students are homeless and have gaps in their learning. They've come to this country in search of a better life, of the American Dream. They do not speak English but are expected to be at grade level.

With these resources, students will learn to read and write in English in an easier, fun way.

The games, boards, vocabulary journals, all of these tools will help them learn the language in a fun, yet structured way, and there will be enough materials for all students to use. I know they will benefit so much from these materials.
