Mrs. Jolly from Greenville SC is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.

Literacy in the Lab!

My students need technology themed books for read alouds during our Computer Lab class. I'm working hard this year to integrate language arts into our technology class, and these books will help me accomplish that goal!

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Tech gives the quietest student a voice." This quote from Jerry Blumengarten resonates so strongly within my classroom. Technology allows even the most shy, most timid students to gain self confidence and gives them an outlet to showcase their talents. My students are so excited to come to the computer lab each week! As their teacher, it motivates me to see the sense of accomplishment on their faces when they learn a new computer skill.

My students are eager learners who are motivated even more with the use of technology!

Our school is high poverty and is designated as Title I. I serve students in first through fifth grade in a computer lab classroom in South Carolina. The computer lab serves around 600 students per week with technology instruction.

My Project

These technology themed read aloud books will serve as the base for many new projects in our computer lab!

As a computer lab teacher, I am always looking for ways to integrate more literacy in my classroom and these books will help me accomplish that goal!

The books I have selected are high interest, relevant, and technology themed books that can be used across all grade levels that I see in the lab. I will read aloud a book, then we will use the text to complete various projects assigned through Google Classroom. We will work on reading comprehension, main idea and details, as well as sequencing events among other skills.

I can't wait to see what an impact these books will help make in the literacy skills of our students!
