Do you remember how proud you felt when you were able to read your first book? My amazing class of kindergarteners is learning that right now! As their literacy skills advance they are able to read more and more. We know that for a student to reach their full potential they need at home support.
My class of kindergarteners are truly amazing!
They work so hard everyday to build the literacy skills they need to become fluent readers. Our school is a charter in the Sacramento area. It is one of the most desirable schools, and students are selected through a lottery. Due to limited resources and an increase in class size we are in need of new literacy kits for the students to be able to take home and continue their learning outside the classroom. The parents love to be involved in their child's learning and are frequently asking what they can do. As a teacher this is exactly what you want to hear! The students are eager to increase their skills inside and outside the classroom. These literacy kits are the perfect opportunity!
My Project
At home support is essential for student success. Each kit has an individual book that the child and parent can read together to build important literacy skills. Following the book, the students will get to have fun with hands-on activities that will also help build these necessary skills. The students will learn phonemic awareness, tracking, comprehension, enjoyment of different genres of reading and fluency. Every opportunity counts in reading. Kindergarten is the first stepping stone in their academic career, and they deserve every opportunity to succeed!
Please help me to provide this amazing opportunity for my students.
They will benefit in every area of reading. It will also help encourage and support at home learning since so much growth goes on at home as well. Help my 22 enthusiastic kindergartners become fluent readers!
