My Students

My students range in ages from nine to eleven and come from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. All of the students are enthusiastic learners; however, many of them lack the resources and experiences needed to be successful. In addition, our community is still recovering from Hurricane Harvey, and many families are rebuilding and replacing the contents of their homes.

I am hoping to provide as many resources and opportunities as possible to develop, inspire, and encourage the greatest growth potential of each student.

My Project

Learning is easy when you are having fun! The activities and games in this literacy kit provide students an opportunity to practice and assess skills independently while I am working with other students. In addition to self-directed learning, the students also learn the value of working together to learn.

The games and activities provide motivating, focused skill practice to develop reading comprehension.

For example, the High-Interest Intervention skill folders will allow students to learn about common interests while becoming more confident readers. The set of six folders for each skill allows the students to share the learning with one another.
