Help me give my students more resources to foster a love of literacy! An iPad (and case for protection!) and different alphabet and literacy learning games will help my students become EXCITED about choosing the literacy center!
My students are absolutely AMAZING! They are a diverse group of PreK students from New Jersey with many different learning styles and levels of academic ability.
They have an impressive enthusiasm for learning, especially when that learning is fun!
My class is made up of special education students and English Language Learners, most of whom are also economically disadvantaged students with minimal life experiences outside of their homes and school. As their teacher, I try my best to provide a learning environment for these students that is safe, nurturing, and engaging, where they feel that it is okay to be exactly who they are and always do their best. I also look for any way I can to bring life experiences to them since many are in situations where they must miss out.
My Project
The literacy center is not one that is always chosen in my classroom. I want my students to be excited about reading, and these materials will do that!
The iPad and case for protection will provide my students with some literacy instruction and FUN through technology.
I will be able to load different learning games and videos for them to watch and play along with.
We limit screen time, so we would also LOVE some hands on alphabet materials! We will use the magnetic letters to practice letter and sound recognition and start to build words. The Learning Letters Activity Centers Set is a great way for me to be able to scaffold and differentiate literacy based on my students' wide range of abilities. We would love to use the wipe and write alphabet cards during our fine motor block, to strength our little writing fingers while have fun with the ABCs! With these literacy materials, the possibilities are endless.
