My students need hands-on literacy materials in order to learn to recognize and write the letters of the alphabet and to increase their fine motor skills.
Our diverse Pre-k students often encounter academic challenges. Ninety-five percent of our students receive free or reduced priced lunches. Some of our students receive a food backpack each weekend.
Our students love to learn and each needs different things to learn in his or her own way.
Every day our students learn more and more. We want to give them what they need to be successful.
We love our students and want them to be successful in the future. We challenge them to be the best they can be!
My Project
My Pre-K students learn by doing. The A-Z Pegboard Sets will help develop literacy and fine motor skills. The Toobaloos will give my students the chance to hear themselves say letters, sounds, and words. My Pre-K students will be able to explore the letters by manipulating the Feely Fabric Letters. The Follow Along Letters and the Trace and Write Alphabet Center give the students guided practice as they write their letters.
Letter recognition is fundamental for reading, writing, and literacy skills.
The above mentioned items will be used to give students hands-on learning opportunities. They will use their senses of sight, touch, and/or hearing while using the materials. This will help the students process the letters in order to recognize and write them.
I want my students to leave Pre-K with the fundamental literacy skills needed to succeed in Kindergarten. These resources will help me achieve this goal.
