My Students

My first graders are a mixture of cultural, ethnic backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles. These learning styles vary from student to student and my goal is to successfully meet all their needs to enhance their learning experiences this year and for years to come.

Being a diverse class, it would be wonderful to represent our cultures, experiences, and community through literacy resources.

Each child has the ability to be successful, with the right tools they can reach for the stars.

My Project

The Scholastic News and book collections will offer my students experiences in the classroom that they can use to make connections to their cultures, family and community. When students make personal connections to the literature they become invested in their learning. As they become invested in their learning each student becomes explorers and researchers. These materials will add depth to our curriculum while adding to our classroom library. The Scholastic News will be used as a supplemental resource to show where we can gather information. The books will be added to our classroom library for students to explore throughout the day.
