Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title I school in Orlando, Florida. All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of the students receive a backpack filled with food for the weekend. In our school we have a food pantry and provide clothes donations for the families in our community. My students are eager to learn, dedicated and always try their best. Their enthusiasm and determination in learning pushes me to be the best teacher I can be.
My Project
I want my students to have the opportunity to learn and have fun simultaneously. The materials I chose will be part of their center's experience. Phonics games, alphabet tubs, puzzles, all activities that are engaging and purposeful. For many of my students, Kindergarten is their first experience in a classroom setting. These centers are a fun way to help them learn letters, rhyming, phonemic awareness, and cooperation. Also, many students are English Language Learners and it is wonderful to provide them with visuals and a hands on learning experience. These resources are colorful, high quality, and will keep students interested in what they are currently learning.
