Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Technology is wonderful but it presents its own set of problems such as having enough headphones to use with iPads and computers and having enough CD players to use at a listening center.
My 29 first graders attend school in LA County.
I have several special needs students in my classroom this year. I also have several English Language learners who are trying to improve their English skills. My students are an energetic bunch of six and seven year olds who come to school each day eager and ready to learn.
My Project
My students need 2 portable CD players and 8 headphones to use at various literacy centers. have been fortunate enough to have been given a computer and iPads to use in my classroom. Unfortunately, there were no headphones provided. In order to have a quiet learning environment, my students need to use headphones at the various learning stations with technology. I also am short 2 CD players at my listening center. It is here that my students listen to books on CD. This increases their reading fluency and allows them to listen to quality literature. Improving their reading skills helps them meet state language arts standards at the end of the year.
Donating to this project will allow my students to listen to literature on CD.
It will also help provide a quiet learning environment for those students who are not working on the computer. Headphones are a wonderful invention! Thanks for your help!
