This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Kindergarten is a crucial time in children's' lives when they learn how to read.
I teach 18 students who are between 4 and 6 years old.
They come from low-socioeconomic backgrounds and attend a Title 1 school. They are eligible for free/reduced lunch. Many lack parental involvement and a home-school connection. They feel safe, loved, and competent at school.
My Project
These engaging literacy centers offer students a fun way to learn. These activities allow them to build basic reading and writing skills, while being engaged and working with others. These centers allow children to practice skills, while I am working with individually with students or in small groups.
Most of my students enter kindergarten with no foundational background for reading.
They must grow enormously as readers before they can be promoted to 1st grade. Please help our classroom!
