My students need reading materials and comprehension practice centers for the classroom.
Literacy is an integral part of any child's education - the more practice, the better! I know my students will benefit from having various ways to practice reading comprehension in the classroom so they can become avid, passionate readers!
I have yet to meet my new set of students in a this up-and-coming charter school!
I am confident, however, that they will be wonderful students who are excited to read, and understand the texts they are reading. Fueling their imagination with books and providing them with the want to read is the least I can do as their teacher and mentor. As a 4th grade community, we will all be attending a charter school, working hard to close the achievement gap in an inner city district of Pennsylvania. With that being said, having the classroom ready to go with reading materials almost as soon as the year starts would give us an awesome advantage in tackling our reading goals!
Imagine walking into a classroom and witnessing students reading, discussing books with their peers, working on comprehension skills and having fun while doing so! I have requested sets of leveled readers, sets of magazines, and comprehension centers so my students can continuously practice meaningful reading in order to close the literacy gap. With the materials I have requested, my students will be able to do this as well as practice fluency, comprehension skills, and everything it means to be a good reader. These skills provide the very basis for learning how to read, and therefore, excel as a student in every subject. With your donations, my classroom will be filled with centers and books that will help students decode text, study text, and read, read, read! :)
Simply stated: these donations will help guide students in being wonderful readers and avid learners.
