Teaching fourth grades that are on a first or second grade reading level can be very challenging. We need all of the help we can get. I am always searching for great new tools for our literacy centers and the items on our list will help my students reach their goals and become great readers.
My students are low-income, at risk kids.
My students a caring kids who want to success, no matter what hand that life has dealt them. We have a large Hispanic population and many struggle with becoming fluent readers. We have recently moved to a new school building, because our school is always expanding.
My Project
I am requesting two different instructional supplies that deal with inferences, because that is what my students struggle with most. I am also requesting a Vocabulary of the Day book to help my students grow their vocabulary. I teach in a school with a high ELL population and vocabulary is the number one thing that helps these kids be more successful in literacy. I am also requesting Reader's Theater and Dry-Erase marker boards to help my students have a more hands-on experience and reach them in more ways.
Literacy centers are the most important part of my student's day.
Allowing my to enhance these center through these supplies will give my students a greater chance at literacy success.
