I strive to push my students to reach for their dreams. My students think of our classroom as their safe place with their school family.
My students attend an Artful Learning school.
They are inner city kids who come from a variety of backgrounds. Our school is a low income school, where most kids get free or reduced lunch and breakfast. The local community kitchen is where many of my kids get their evening meals. I strive to provide a warm, friendly atmosphere that many of them do not have at home.
My Project
I am requesting a large amount of organizational supplies. Last year I noticed reference sheets and notes being lost because my kids only had a two pocket folder for their literacy block. The durable binders should last two years with care.
The Gordon Korman books were a hit last year and I ordered a few more sets to complete the Korman collection. The books are high interest books. I even had kids requesting me as a teacher because they knew they wanted to read the Gordon Korman books. These valuable supplies will not only make them better readers, but better future citizens.
This project will allow my students to be successful as citizens.
Each item donated fosters a love for learning that may be lacking in their home. A previously funded project included Korman books. A previous student recently contacted me and actually said she was reading on her own this summer. Typically my kids don't like to read, and because of your donations they learning and reading independently.
