Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a designated Title One school with a large percentage of children from low-income families. Many of our students are eligible for extra support to help ensure that they meet challenging state academic standards.

The students in my class are a lively, energetic and enthusiastic group of first and second grade children with diverse backgrounds, abilities and academic needs.

They are inquisitive, capable learners who share a common love for learning and a growing enthusiasm for reading that is exciting to see.

My Project

This project is based on the Picture Perfect STEM Lessons K-2. The students will listen to featured picture books that are linked to a topic (engineering, architecture, robotics, energy transfer, human impact on the environment...), then explore together ways to solve problems, explain their thinking to others, elaborate on their findings, and evaluate themselves, as they apply new findings to their thinking or behaviors.

These STEM projects will help me inspire my students to take on the responsibility for learning as they construct knowledge through discovery, problem-solving, and raising questions.

The books chosen will help enrich their lives through reading aloud!
