Teaching at the only A+ school in South Dakota, I am blessed with students who learn in their own unique ways. Our school focuses on the Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences while also integrating the arts into all aspects of our day. Any of the students can tell you their designated intelligence and how they learn best.
These students love to move, love to learn, and love to express themselves.
From the minute they walk in the door I ask myself how they can learn best and how I can alter my teaching to meet their needs. To honor each and every individual in my classroom I am looking for easy ways to keep their brains and hearts engaged in their learning!
My Project
In first grade I’m trying to instill a love of literacy. These students are learning to read, and I want to help them develop a passion for reading. Scholastic Magazines are a great way for students to experience nonfiction text. It is also a great way for students to learn about different social studies and science standards.
The exercise stability balls are also a great way for their little bodies to move while learning.
First grade students are not used to sitting still all day. These stability balls will help the students move out their wiggles while focusing in on their magazines.
