Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from an urban school ranging in age from 3-10 years age. I work for the Minneapolis Public Schools as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. I work for multiple schools both elementary and middle schools. I work with kids who receive special education. The children who I provide Occupational Therapy for range in ability and age. However they are all working on hand development skills. I hope by incorporating letters and words in fine-motor activities I will also be able to improve each child's reading skills.
My Project
The materials I am requesting are for a professional development project for work. I work for Minneapolis Public Schools and this year I am working on activities to promote both literacy and fine-motor skills. I am hoping these materials will allow my students to improve both their reading and fine-motor (hand development skills). I would like to improve all of my students reading skills by at least one reading level in one 3 month period.
I also hope to improve each child's fine-motor (hand development skills) in order to help improve each child's ability to functionally use his or her hands functionally during the school day.
I hope by utilizing these materials each child will be able to have fun while increasing his or her reading and hand manipulation skills. I want to use these materials to improve learning in a fun and motivating way!
