Our school offers a traditional core curriculum through instruction in both Spanish and English to children of all language backgrounds. The program utilizes the well-established immersion approach to dual language education with a range of opportunities for creative expression and experiential learning. Students will become bilingual and biliterate in a culturally diverse and nurturing environment. All families are welcome; no previous exposure to a second language required!
Considered the most effective model of dual language education, TWI brings native Spanish-speakers and non-Spanish-speakers together with the goal, for all students, of achieving academic excellence while becoming bilingual and biliterate.
Students acquire knowledge and skills in all core content areas through instruction in both languages, with the added benefits associated with learning a second language at a young age. HoLa implements TWI following the 90-10 approach.
My Project
The books I have selected will help the students in our Dual-Language school learn and better understand each others' difference. Not only is it important that the students are learning the target language, but also about different cultures, hispanic and nonhispanic.
Our students have a hunger for books.
What better way to immerese them in multicultural education than through literature. We have chosen a range of topics and levels to keep our young readers challenged and engaged.
In addition to reading diverse stories, we also want them to read nonfiction text, specifically biographies. We encourage learning about real life people that have changed the world.
