This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 3rd grade students are part of a wonderful Dual Language Program in which they learn to read, write and speak in two languages, Spanish and English. They are in the pathway to becoming bicultural and biliterate.

I want my students to have headphones to listen to stories on tape to build literacy.

Listening to audio books will allow students to improve in reading comprehension and fluency, vocabulary and in language development, as well as in critical thinking skills.

My Project

The headphones will be use with the classroom's chrome books to give students access to audio books. This will allow students to listen to stories for pleasure, to improve reading comprehension and fluency, as well as develop critical thinking skills.

Audiobooks help all students engage with the text .It supports struggling reader with academic vocabulary, prior knowledge, and access context.

Each student will have their own set of headphones, and will listen to audio books during independent work time. Students will work collaborative in small group to engage in comprehension activities.
