My school is a Title I school that sits in the heart of Washington, DC. I have a group of 67 students who are fun loving, eager-to-learn new things, excited about school and love to read. My classroom would be considered a melting pot of cultural heritage and social needs. Many of my students have been in the US less than 4 years. They inspire me every day.
To meet their needs we incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are!
Having access to computers will improve my students' learning in many ways. For example, my students will be able to connect to the world by reading information that stimulates their critical thinking skills and improves their reading abilities. Students will also have the opportunity to respond to literacy questions which will also improve students' writing and typing skills.
Furthermore, having access to technology my students will be able to connect with other students globally to discuss various literature.
If we had these computers my students will have access to technology at least 3 times a week. Our school currently has 200 computers for 660 students.
