My Students

The 2021-2022 school year is bound to be eventful. My second graders are coming from all different backgrounds. All of them lost the end of their kindergarten year. Some came into school last year, some did hybrid, and some were virtual all year. This is going to be another year to remember. I teach at a magnet school and my students all come from the greater Hartford area. They all have different backgrounds and different stories. However, they are all coming together to learn, to have fun, and to share new experiences.

My Project

In schools today technology plays a key role. We use many computer programs to enhance student learning. A lot of these programs talk to students, read to students, and give them directions. They need to be able to hear, but imagine being in a classroom with 20 other students trying to listen. It becomes especially challenging when all 20 students are listening to different things. Not only is it hard to hear, but the noise level in the classroom can become extreme. Although many students do come prepared with their own headphones, some do not. Some parents cannot afford to buy headphones, especially if they break and they have to buy another pair. I would love to have spare headphones in my classroom in case students need some. With COVID protocols students cannot share so I need enough for extra students.
