I teach in a small, rural district in a 1st grade classroom. We often times have to pay for things for our classroom by ourselves. We try to use different things to differentiate and help all learners everyday.
My students are hard workers and love trying new things.
They love getting to do new activities and strategies in the classroom. This will help keep the students engaged.
My students will love having another way to practice their reading skills! This will also give them an option between listening to a book on the computer that we have or trying something new and listening to it on the CD player with a book.
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During center time they choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Using the listening center with these seats will allow the students to be more comfortable.
Students having flexible seating and choice during centers helps keep them engaged.
Some students who struggle with reading will be able to use the listening center and use it to read in a different way!
These items will help my students become better readers and work on them becoming more successful in reading. The students will be able to use the CD player and the headphones that I already have to listen to reading and practice reading in a different way. The cushion seats will give them a more comfortable way to sit since the listening center will be on the ground. Hopefully having another option to practice reading will help them become stronger readers!
