My name is Ms. Pennacchia and I am a 2nd-grade ELL teacher. I will be working with 23 students in an urban district classroom in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
It is a multi-cultural classroom with students with various language needs. I am looking to provide a language-rich, warm, inviting and stimulating environment which will accommodate all learners and their individual learning styles/levels.
These kids are amazing and ready to take on 2nd grade!
My Project
For English Language Learners, a unique variety of learning experiences and language experiences will help to lower the students Affective Filters, reduces anxiety, insecurities, and increases opportunities to take academic risks.
Having this listening center and purposely selected books/CDs, will help all, but specifically, English Language Learners need to hear, see, and respond to language using a variety of senses.
Additionally, since this listening center has 6 headsets and multiple copies of each book, they will be able to work in collaboration with a small group of peers to support, encourage, communicate, and share thought and feeling about the books they are exploring.
