My district is located in a small urban area and we have a diverse student population. We are all inclusive which means we have students that have different needs, learning styles, and objectives. My specific class thrives on building each other up and encouraging each other to learn more.
My students are extremely motivated and look for new and innovative ways to learn.

“When will we do our next book report?” “When is the next science experiment?” These are actual questions that my students will ask on a weekly basis. They have come to school to learn, and their need for knowledge is insatiable.
My third graders are reading more fluently every day! They thirst for higher level vocabulary and will use a reading center to both visualize and hear new words. The specific books I have chosen will compliment our Reading, Science, and Social Studies curriculum while focusing on non fictional texts.
Using a listening center to both visualize and hear text will increase a student’s fluency.
They will be able to see how words are read and hear how to pronounce them. It also provides a “fun” way to learn.
The listening center will work in conjunction with our ELA centers during reading instruction. Each student will work in a group that will rotate through this center. It enhances cooperative learning in a setting that pressure free.
