Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a teacher in an amazing low-income bilingual school. My students are faced with several challenges. I want to help my students in as many ways as possible and empower them to be productive citizens.
I have a great mix of scholars including special education students, English Language Learners who love exploring, playing, learning, and creating.
These students like to discover and enthusiastically share their ideas with their peers.
Students at our school are inquisitive and compassionate. At our school, we focus on solving problems, making good decisions, and being respectful. Eighty-six percent of our students come from socioeconomically disadvantaged homes. Many of our students do not have a lot of books as home so we try to put as many books in their hands as possible.
My Project
These stories will allow students to listen to high quality literature while I am pulling guided reading groups during literacy intervention. I know I will have gaps to fill because of distance learning and this will allow students to have more access to books. While they are listening and reading these stories in the morning it allows me to pull small groups to deliver the reading instruction that each of them need and deserve. I appreciate your donation and I know each student will too! Stay safe and healthy.
