Listening, Speaking and Writing Our Way to English!
Help me give my students a Speak & Listen Recording Microphone, Listen & Learn Early Comprehension Activity Program, English Language Development Activity Cards, English Language Development Skill-Building Centers and the English Language Development Speaking & Listening Center.
As a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide a sparkling, engaging classroom with all the bells and whistles. I want my students to love their school and take pride in their classroom and have the tools they need to succeed.
My students are eager, energetic, and spontaneous.
They like to move, they love to read, and they crave positive attention. Many of them are being raised in single parent households and receive free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical." I may not be able to control their home lives, but I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic success. They are learning English as a second language.
My Project
My students are in grades Kindergarten through fifth. They are all second language learners. I want to help my students grasp the English language in a way that is fun with hands-on manipulatives. The microphones will help my students hear themselves speak. The students can read to themselves or they can repeat what the teacher dictates. The various centers will reinforce speaking skills with listening, reading and writing.
My students will be able to interactively practice and acquire basic English language skills using different modalities- listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Utilizing these resources will help me cater to all of my students' styles of learning so they all will benefit from it.
