I teach a fourth grade bilingual classroom in the Chicago Public Schools. The school that I work at has a very limited amount of resources. My students are English language learners who often struggle with reading fluently and comprehending what they hear. I read aloud to them everyday, so they can hear how a good reader reads. But I feel that sometimes they need to hear the story read to them more than one time and it helps to hear it read by another person. I am asking for a kit filled with sets of grade level chapter books that come with a corresponding cassette. This will help my students with reading fluency, listening comprehension, intonation, and expression. The read alongs I chose are of books that I have one copy of or of stories that are in our reading textbook. If I receive these materials I will use them for a listening center where they could listen to the story again on cassette with their group. Please help out this fourth grade teacher that wants to help her students become better readers. Thank you!
