My school is made up about 400 students. Our community is very small, so our students have very close relationships with each other and our staff. The school is the center of our community.
Many of our students will be in classes with their peers from prekindergarten until they graduate high school.
Although we are a small school, the learning styles vary greatly. I teach about 78 third, fourth and fifth grade students each day.
Because we are a rural community, we have significantly fewer resources than a school in a larger city. I work hard to insure that my students have the same opportunities as every other student in our state. In doing this, I know I can prepare them for their next step in their education.
Teaching two grade levels of math and three grade levels of enrichment has its challenges. What I love most about my students is their spirit of inquiry and drive to learn. My hope is to keep their passion going for the rest of their lives, creating lifelong learners.
My Project
We need a class set of headphones. Students will use the headphones with individual iPads during Response to Intervention time and while taking computerized math test.
My students need to see and hear the individualized instruction path offered through math websites.
Since each student will be working on their individualized plan, the headphones will allow students to concentrate on their needs while causing little or no disturbance to their neighbors.
These headphones promote minimal distractions while students deepen their math understanding during small group instruction and while taking computerized tests. The headphones can be used by multiple sections of math students. These headphones will impact student learning for my students this year and for years to come.
