My 2nd grade students are creative, full of energy and so excited to learn. They each have so much potential for growth. However, they all come from different backgrounds and have different experiences. Each student is unique and needs individualized instruction.
Regardless of their current level, all my students have the ability to learn and feel the joy that comes from making progress.
Given the right tools I am certain that each student can feel successful. When they feel success in their learning they become empowered.
My Project
Technology is the learning tool of the 21st century. We are lucky enough to be able to have access to a class set of laptops and programs that allow the students to receive supplemental literacy and mathematic instruction. The students are able to receive individualized instruction based on placement tests. The instruction is exciting, engaging and right on their level! My students love when we have our technology time! They play games and have so much fun that they don't realize that they are learning!
A class set of headphones will allow the students to really get involved with their programs without interrupting the instruction of other students.
Headphones will also allow the students to work independently while I work with small, differentiated groups of students needing extra help. The computer noises won't disrupt my lesson and I won't disrupt the students who are working on their technology so it is a mutually beneficial arrangement. I love being able to use technology in the classroom to enhance my teaching! The students love it and it gets them engaged in a way that worksheets never can!
