My Students
The student body at our school consists of approximately ninety-five percent high-poverty and at-risk students. Many of my students will be the first of their family to graduate from high school and/or college. They are hungry for knowledge and excited to learn new things.
I see potential in all students and my goal is to help them experience academic success.
My students love the opportunity to practice new skills taught in reading. One of my favorite quotes is “The more you read the more things you know. The more that you learn the more places you'll go."

My Project
Last year, we only had one CD player in my classroom. I had 40 students that took turns at the listening center. Having 1 CD player, only 4 students could listen to their chapter book at a time. As you can imagine, it took several days for students to turn to come back around.
My classroom needs more CD players; this will allow more students to listen to their chapter book at the same time.
Instead of only 4 students at the listening center, we can have 12 students engaged in their chapter books at the same time. Students will even have the opportunity to listen to MORE chapter books this school year.
My students absolutely love the listening center. They enjoy listening to the story on CD as they read along in their book.
