Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I believe that all my students have a right to be provided with the same resources and materials as every other student across the United States. I come from an inner-city school with a diverse population. My students each have different qualities and experiences to bring into our classroom. They all live in the neighborhood and many live in poverty. Regardless of their situations outside of school, they come to school to receive a fair education just as those who live in a more privileged area.
My students are hungry to learn and grow academically, cognitively, and socially.
My students deserve the resources and materials that will provide them with the best possible education to fit their needs.
My Project
Reading is a crucial part of learning. Children enjoy listening to stories. Listening centers help students listen to a story being read aloud while they follow along with the book in their hands. Listening to stories models fluid and expressive reading for children. Fluidity and expression are necessary for comprehension of reading.
Audio books allow students to build their listening skills and practice fluid, expressive reading.
My students need a listening center and headphones to help them develop these skills and improve their reading. My students deserve to have a listening center and headphones just as any other student across the United States does.
