Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am lucky to be the teacher of 4th and 5th grade Diverse Learners! My students are of Hispanic and African American descent and most speak two languages. The majority of our students come from low income households and lack the basic school supplies. They come to school everyday determined to work hard and eager to learn!
My students have all been diagnosed with a Learning Disability.
Their greatest struggle is with reading fluency and reading comprehension. Every lesson is differentiated to make sure they can be successful and continue to make great progress in school. My students are amazing individuals who make my life better!
My Project
My Diverse Learner students struggle with reading fluency as well as reading comprehension. By individualizing their lessons so some may have the passages read to them will help improve their comprehension. These headphones will help them work independently and will increase their comprehension ability!
While working in our listening center the students can listen to the leveled stories as they are completing the written comprehension questions.
When passages are read to them we have found greater success. The headphones will give the allow multiple students to work at the same time but it will ensure they are not disrupting their peers and can be focused and learning.
