My Students

My classroom is full of high energy students that need an outlet for their energy and intellect.

Our school is in a rural, low-income area of Georgia.

We are a small school but we are big on making learning fun and applicable to everyday life. The poverty level in our area is 21.3% (as of 2014) the national poverty level is 14.8% (as of 2014). Out of the 18,201 people that live in our county only 16.6% have a bachelors degree or higher, I aim to change that statistic and create a desire for learning and taking that desire into higher education.

My Project

In our classroom, students work on laptops at times but are unable to turn on the volume due to so many students using the computers at once. Our school has a class set of headphones, but if they are checked out my students cannot use any of the audio features on their computer.

If students had headphones every time they worked on computers, they could utilize personal tutors, listen to articles and presentations about their class content.

My hope is to be able to personalize my students' learning experience by allowing them to not only read or see the content but to be able to hear it as well.
